How do I make a Pie Chart?

Step 1 - Creating a chart

After creating an account with us you'll be able to start creating charts in an extremely easy and intuitive manner. Below are the instructions for creating a pie chart:

First you must select the type of pie chart you want from the chart creation page. You can choose from pie, donut or election.

Step 2 - Supplying your data

The next step is to provide the data for the chart. If you'd like to enter the data for the chart manually, then you can create a new dataset. If you'd like to use a previously created dataset then this is another option. Lastly you can upload the dataset from an existing excel spreadsheet.

Step 3 - Sorting your data

Once you have provided the data, you then select the columns to be used for the x axis and y axis.

Step 4 - Choosing a template

The next step is to select a template for your chart.

Step 5 - Share or customize

Once your chart has been created, you can then decide exactly what you want to do with it. You can save it and customise any part of it later. You can also share your chart very easily on social media as well as embedding it on your website.

What type of data is a Pie Chart good for?

Pie charts are quite different to line charts and bar charts in that they do not show the change of a variable over time. They are best used when you want to compare data in a way that's visually appealing and easy to comprehend.

Pie charts are often used to contrast key pieces of data, especially in the business world, such as  customer buying habits. For example, a pie chart would be perfect when you want to show which products are selling best in a particular category. Another good use for a pie chart would be to compare areas of growth within a business such as turnover, profit and exposure.
